Warm blast from the past: Hawaii

Winter is coming, said Ned Stark. Right before they cut his head off. He was right. Winter is here, and it’s still cold as all get out, although we have had temperatures a few degrees above freezing once or twice recently! (JOY!)  It’s time for another warm blast from the past. I’ve probably mentioned on the blog at some point that I once had a minor obsession with Hawaii. Minor. As in I read that James Michener novel Hawaii, found an old copy of the movie with Max von Snydow and Julie Andrews, and flew my hiney out to Hawaii to go diving or visiting any time I could get four or more days off from work. Yeah, it was crazy but I enjoyed it. This pattern of behavior led to me moving to Hawaii for six months to work as a scuba instructor, and that was a lot of fun. It’d be a lot more fun with Carolyn, though, because I wouldn’t be lonely! Anyway, there’s no need for me to point out that Hawaii is a warm and beautiful place, and I’m pretty sure that looking at these pictures helped to thaw my toes out a bit.

Aloha, y’all.

Oh, and by the way, should you be heading out to Hawaii at any point in the near future and want to give scuba diving a try, go visit my old friends at Jack’s Diving Locker, they’re definitely the right people to show you what’s up under the sea.
